Existing Conditions:
The interior floor slab at Whole Foods is experiencing settlement in the range of +/- 2" and in some locations up to 8". The floor settlement is somewhat isolated to a couple areas. Interior columns and perimeter foundation walls are stable and not experiencing abnormal settlement.
Project Description:
"Ground surface prior to construction with the building footprint ranged from approximately El. 72 to El. 80. The site was leveled to an appropriate working grade of El. 78 in preparation for ground improvement installation. Following ground improvement installation footings were constructed, a crushed stone landfill gas venting layer (approximately 8" thick), LLDPE landfill liner, and then structural backfill was placed just below the finished floor at approximately El. 82.5. The site was then turned over to Whole Foods who performed significant utility trenching, installation, and backfilling within the corridor above the landfill liner to reach subgrade for the slab-on-grade installation".
